Troubleshooting

Find what you see on screen, then work through the fix in order.

An appointment is missing from my map

No stops to routeSkipped Showing: Alberta Arts Cottage: no address.

HopStop maps an event only when its calendar is selected and it has an address.

  1. Open Settings → Accounts & Calendars and make sure the event's calendar is ticked.
  2. If the event appears in the list with an amber Address button, tap it and search for the place.
  3. If the card under the map says Skipped, tap the amber Add Address or Fix Address beside it. Until the stop has an address HopStop can find, the route skips it.
  4. All-day events from Apple Calendar don't appear. Give the event a start time in the Calendar app, or add it in HopStop with Add Stop.

Apple Calendar access is denied

Calendar access denied. Enable it in Settings to use Apple Calendar.HopStop needs full calendar access to read your events. Please update the permission in Settings.

HopStop reads your Apple Calendar only with full access. If you declined, or allowed adding events only, it can't see your day.

  1. Open Settings → Accounts & Calendars and tap Open Settings under the message.
  2. In the iPhone Settings app, tap Calendars and choose Full Access.
  3. Return to HopStop, go back, then open Accounts & Calendars again and tick the calendars you want.

A Google account shows Reconnect

Reconnect

That account's sign-in expired. Your other accounts keep working.

  1. Open Settings → Accounts & Calendars.
  2. Tap Reconnect on the account and sign in with Google.

A drive time says Route unavailable

Route unavailable

HopStop couldn't get directions for that drive, so it uses a 30-minute estimate to time your departure alert.

  1. Check your connection, then pull down on the list to refresh. Drive times recalculate.
  2. Check that the stop's pin is in the right place. If it isn't, swipe right on the stop, tap Edit, and search for the address again.
  3. For directions now, tap the stop, then tap Navigate.

My departure alert didn't arrive

Alerts need notification and location permission. HopStop sets them when it loads today's route, for stops with a start time and an address.

  1. In Settings → Location & Alerts, check that Departure Alerts is on. A row with Open Settings appears if a permission is missing.
  2. In the iPhone Settings app, open HopStop and allow Notifications and Location.
  3. Also in the iPhone Settings app, check that Background App Refresh is on for HopStop. It keeps alert times current with traffic. With Pro, it also lets Auto-log trips log your day in the background; see A day didn't log itself.
  4. Open HopStop on the day. A stop without a start time or an address gets no alert, and neither does one whose leave time has already passed.

Use My Location can't find me

Couldn't find your location. Check location permissions in Settings, or search for your address above.

Use My Location on the Primary address screen needs location permission and a current fix from your iPhone.

  1. Open Settings → Location & Alerts. If a location row with Open Settings appears, tap it and allow Location for HopStop.
  2. Go back to Settings → Mileage → Primary address and tap Use My Location again.
  3. If it still can't find you, type your address under Search for your address and tap the result.

The widget says Upgrade to Pro

Upgrade to Pro

The widget shows your next stop with Pro. It picks up your Pro status the next time HopStop loads today's route.

  1. Open HopStop on today's date and pull down on the list to refresh.
  2. If the widget still says Upgrade to Pro, bring Pro back with Restore Purchases, then refresh again.

Pro is missing on my new phone

Pro is tied to your Apple Account and comes back with one tap.

  1. Tap a Pro feature, such as the date in the header or the Saved tab.
  2. On the upgrade screen, tap Restore Purchases. If the screen says it couldn't reach the App Store, check your connection and try again.

My mileage CSV didn't savePro

No entries match the selected filters.

The export hands a CSV file to the share sheet. Nothing is saved until you choose where it goes, and there is nothing to export when no entries match your dates and category.

  1. In Settings → Mileage → Mileage Log, check that entries show for your dates. The export button stays greyed out while the list is empty.
  2. On Export Mileage, widen From and To, or choose All, until a count of entries appears.
  3. Tap Export, then pick a destination such as Save to Files or Mail. Closing the share sheet without choosing one saves nothing.

A day didn't log itselfPro

Auto-log trips logs a day after its last stop ends, whenever iOS gives HopStop time in the background. If iOS holds off, the day logs under its own date the next time you open HopStop, provided you opened HopStop on that day.

  1. Open HopStop. If it saved that day's route, the day logs under its own date and a notice says so.
  2. In Settings → Mileage, check that Auto-log trips is on.
  3. Open HopStop at least once on the day you drive. It saves the day's route when it loads it. A day with fewer than two stops, not counting excluded ones, has no drive to log.
  4. In the iPhone Settings app, check that Background App Refresh is on for HopStop. Low Power Mode can hold it back too.
  5. Don't swipe HopStop closed in the app switcher. A closed app gets no background time until you open it again.
  6. If you reopened the day with Reopen Day, auto-log leaves it to you. Tap Log Trip to log it yourself.
